For the remainder of the class, we will be focusing on putting together your final paper. This paper is a synthesis of the 5-7 sources you have collected that are related to your topic. In this assignment, you are expected to write a cohesive paper that draws on all your sources in a meaningful way to develop a thesis statement that demonstrates your perspective on the topic.

The larger assignment will be broken down into smaller components, each of which will be graded separately:

• Thesis statement and outline – due in D2L by the deadline stated in the syllabus. This will be a part of your assignments grade and should provide the “road map” for creating your paper.
• First draft – due in D2L bythe deadline stated in the syllabus. This will be the basis for our in-class peer-review. The first draft should be at least four pages long and should follow the basic outline for your final paper. This is 5% of your final grade.
• Peer review – completed in class on the deadline stated in the syllabus. You will be given clear directions for how to complete this. If you do not submit a first draft by this class period, you will be asked to leave the class and will receive a zero for your peer review grade. This is 5% of your final grade.
• Final paper – due in D2L by the end of class on the deadline stated in the syllabus. You will have the entire final class period to make edits, ask questions, etc., but your paper should be essentially finished before this class. This will be worth 25% of your final grade.

Remember that your topic should be the same as that mentioned in your research proposal—if you need to change your topic, speak with me first!

Specifications:

• The paper should be 6 pages long, formatted in 12 pt. Times New Roman or Calibri font, double spaced, with 1-inch margins. This page count does not include references or the cover sheet.
• All formatting should follow APA paper writing guidelines (see D2L for examples and explanations).
• All references must be included in in-text citation within the paper and included in an end-text reference list.
• The paper, and all outlines and drafts, should be submitted as MS Word documents in the appropriate D2L Assignments folder.
