One of Walden University’s goals is to produce graduates who are leaders in the workplace, in their local communities, and even at home. This week, you will focus on what Walden University means by positive social change, your ideas about what it means to you, and what you think management’s role is in manifesting positive social change.
You will complete the first part of the Skills Development and Assessment Plan (SDAP) based on your motivations to pursue a PhD in Management and your understanding of how you might contribute to positive social change. In this Assignment, you will reflect on what skills you will need to be proficient with respect to your professional goals and explain how your goals relate to your contribution to positive social change. Later in the course, you will create a list of skills with definitions that are needed to complete the PhD in Management program and plan specific activities that will further your career aspirations.
Learning Objectives
You will:
- Create connections between Walden’s mission and vision and personal values and experiences
- Identify personal and professional goals
- Assess personal educational background and research proficiency skills
- Create a personal plan for completing the PhD in Management program
Skills
You will develop the following skills:
- Independently seeks opportunities to attend optional relevant training programs and searches for supplemental reading to expand skills and knowledge in own field of expertise
- Regularly evaluates own strengths and weaknesses and pursues opportunities to develop in necessary areas
- Manages time effectively; acts quickly to complete high-priority and urgent tasks and completes remaining tasks in a reasonable amount of time
- Summarizes can critically reflects on the relevant literature about a given topic
- Questions and explores the validity of statements based on information published in multiple sources
- Develops and maintains cooperative working relationships with team members over the duration of a project
- Carefully listens to others; understands, respects, and fully considers diverse thoughts and opinions
