Discussion: Current Management Topics and Issues
“Management is doing things right; leadership is doing the right things.”
—Peter F. Drucker
Before you begin this Discussion, determine the two issues you examined in the Assignment that is due this week that are related to management or organizations.
Using your reflective writing skills summarize your issues, and pose some questions you hold as true about the issues with the support of peer-reviewed literature. Then, explore other questions that still need to be addressed about the topic that the literature is not discussing. Finally, draw a conclusion about the impact of the topic on management.
Be sure to search the Walden Library for at least one article that supports the issues and opens questions about the issues. Use proper APA Style to cite the references and to write your reference list.
Discussion Goals
Your goal is to scan and describe a topic or issue in management that is seen throughout the trade journals and by the peer-reviewed literature. Take the time to explain why the topic and issue are relevant. Remember to incorporate your skills this week into the Discussion.
By Day 3: Initial Post to Group
Individual response. Select a management issue and research it by looking for articles in peer-reviewed journals. Add your own insights and examples, supporting your statements with references to the sources you found in your review of the literature. Present your analysis of the issue in a brief media clip. Post the clip to your group’s discussion board.
By Day 5: Group Discussion and Vote
As a group, compare and discuss the individual responses from the group members and provide feedback for improvement if applicable. Vote for the best two responses. The two students who made the clips with the most votes post them to the class Discussion board.
By Day 7: Individual Replies
Review the finalists on the class Discussion board and post your feedback. Vote for your favorite two clips. The Instructor will tally the votes to determine the winners.
